Q. Where can my student park on campus?
A. Where your student parks on campus depends on the type of permit he/she holds. There are various student parking options at a range of prices. For a list of permit types, please go to: http://parking.uncg.edu/options.html. Certain permits are valid in each lot on campus. You’ll find a map of the parking lots on campus and the permits valid in each lot at http://parking.uncg.edu/map.html.
Q. What are parking regulations?
A. In a nutshell:
  • Permits are required to park on campus from midnight Sunday until 5 pm Friday.
  • After 5 pm on Friday until midnight Sunday, no permit is required in valid A, C, and E permit lots. This does not include meters, reserve, or other no parking zones.
  • After 5 pm weekdays, no permit is required in the Oakland/Tate lot. You must park in a valid space and not a meter, reserve, or any other no parking zone.
  • Meters, reserve, and handicap spaces are enforced 24/7.
Get the complete list of parking regulations at http://parking.uncg.edu/parkingregs.html.
Q. What should my student do if he/she receives a ticket?
A. All parking tickets must be paid in full or appealed. Students have 7 days to appeal a parking ticket they feel is unjust. Parking tickets are issued through Parking Services, not UNCG Police, so all appeals should be directed to that office. For more information on the appeals process, see http://parking.uncg.edu/appeals.html.
Q. What are inexpensive alternatives to driving if my student wants to get around Greensboro?
A. For students who like the convenience of not having to drive or find a parking spot, Higher Education Area Transit (HEAT) is a boon. This Greensboro Transit Authority bus system links students from several area campuses with each other and the greater Greensboro community. Best of all, this grant-supported service is free for students from participating campuses (like UNCG) who show their University ID. For more information, see http://www.rideheat.com/.
