- Q. How do we apply for financial aid?
- A. To apply for most types of financial aid, students must complete a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). This application must be renewed each academic year for a student to continue receiving financial aid. The priority date for the FAFSA is March 1, and students who have completed a FAFSA by this date will be considered first for financial aid. Certain scholarships, grants, or other types of aid require a separate application through the department or organization providing the aid.
- Q. How will my student receive his/her financial aid award money?
- A. The University will credit financial aid directly to your student’s account to pay tuition, required fees, room, and board. Any overpayment owed to a student as a result of the financial aid being credited directly to the student’s account will be refunded via check mailed to his/her campus mail box or local mailing address.
- Q. What can I do if my student’s financial aid award is not enough to cover all the University charges?
- A. A University-approved monthly tuition payment plan is offered via an independent agency, Academic Management Services (AMS). For additional information on this service, please contact them at 1-800-635-0120. The AMS tuition plan may also be used to supplement all forms of financial aid or it can be used alone as a monthly payment plan. The AMS payment plan provides payment for fall and spring term University expenses calculated in ten equal monthly payments.
- Q. If my student graduates or leaves UNCG for any reason, when must payment on Perkins or Institutional student loans begin?
- A. The Perkins and Institutional Loan Programs provide a nine month grace period if you fail to enroll at another institution for at least six credit hours.
- Q. Can payments on student loans begin before the grace period is up?
- A. Payments made on student loans while in the grace period are acceptable and saves you and your student money. These payments are considered advance payments and reduce the principal balance owed on loans. Therefore, less interest is paid on the loans.
- Q. How long does my student have to repay student loans received at UNCG?
- A. Student Loans have a ten year repayment period, but if you pay more than the minimum monthly payment and pay on time, the length of the repayment period can be drastically reduced.
- Q. What forms of payment does the University accept?
- A. The University accepts cash, personal checks, money orders, Mastercard, and Visa as forms of payment.
- Q. Where and how do I pay for my classes?
- A. The most efficient way to pay is online via UNCGenie. You may also mail your payment (check, money order, Mastercard, or Visa) to:
